Paige Nestel

Associate at Greenberg Traurig, LLP

What past positions have you served?
Editorial Assistant to the Editor in Chief, Quick & Simple magazine, 2007-2008; Editorial Assistant, Prevention magazine, 2008-2010; Clerk to the Hon. Jack M. Sabatino, J.A.D., New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, 2013-2014

What skills did you use from college to obtain these positions?
I would not have been able to obtain my magazine editorial positions without my experience working for campus publications, taking journalism classes, and interning and making connections throughout my time at TCNJ.  Later, when I decided to switch careers entirely and enter law school, my writing skills were a huge asset.  As a law clerk and, now, a practicing attorney, writing and editing continue to play large roles in my day-to-day responsibilities.

What are your favorite memories from TCNJ?
I made lifelong friends at TCNJ, many of whom I am still in touch with on almost a daily basis.

What advice would you give to current Journalism students?
INTERN as much as you can. Don’t be afraid to commute into NYC if you have to – these experiences on your resume are what will help get you started in the industry. And, should you decide down the road to branch off into a different career path, know that your writing and editing skills will definitely still be valuable and marketable in a number of fields.
