Victoria Moorhouse

Associate Beauty Editor of BeautyHigh.com, part of the StyleCaster Media Group.

What other jobs/internships have you held in the recent past?
While working for OKMagazine.com, I wrote and produced celebrity style, celebrity beauty, lifestyle, and pop culture blog posts and slideshows for the website. In addition, I interviewed various influencers, designers, and celebrities for exclusive content. Prior to my time at OKMagazine.com, I served as a Web Editorial Intern for Seventeen.com and was an editorial intern for Unique Homes. I also held an editorial internship at Women’s Health and at a regional publication, South Jersey Magazine.

What are some of your favorite memories of the JPW program, or of your time serving on student media?
I’m so thankful for the wonderful education that TCNJ’s journalism department has provided me with. Every class presented me with unique and intriguing assignments that challenged me as a writer and editor. It was in Magazine Writing and Beats and Deadlines where I was taught the importance of excelling at interviewing, mastering researching techniques. Some of my fondest memories include contributing to the Campus Style column for The Signal and completing an independent study on health and wellness journalism.

Do you have any advice for current students?
Write as much as you can. It’s a craft you’ll continue to perfect as you practice. And try writing about new things or applying for various types of internships within the journalism industry! You won’t know if you enjoy telling those types of stories until you’ve tried at least once.

What valuable skills did you learn while at TCNJ? I think one of the most valuable skills I learned at TCNJ was refining the art of interviewing. It’s so important to learn how to talk to people in order to tell a vivid, interesting, and complete story.
