A Message from the Chair

Every great story needs a storyteller. Our department prepares you to master the art of strategic storytelling across two dynamic majors: Communication Studies and Journalism & Professional Writing. What sets us apart is our commitment to hands-on experience from day one – our students don’t just learn theory, they intern with national news organizations, global corporations, and federal agencies, then graduate to impactful careers in media, healthcare, technology, and beyond. With small classes where faculty know your name and bring real industry expertise directly to you, whether you’re creating campaigns that save lives, investigating stories that matter, or producing films that inspire change, you’ll develop the communication skills every industry values and the critical thinking our democracy requires. Your story matters. Let us help you learn to tell it with impact.
