Congratulations to Ryan Maurer for being selected for online publication!
His essay, “Disney’s Use of Media Convergence in the Streaming World,” will be published in the forthcoming TCNJ Journal of Student Scholarship.
Ryan wrote the essay in Dr. D’Angelo’s COM 172, Introduction to Media Communication. The course explores the seven legacy media industries of books, magazines, newspapers, radio, recorded music, television, and motion pictures.
The class surveys their shared histories and specifically focuses on ways that media companies navigate the contemporary “convergence” environment, in which digital platforms (e.g., social media and websites) and devices (e.g., smart TVs and phones) play a major role.
Ryan’s article is about the Walt Disney Company, one of the largest of all media companies, with a long history in the pre-convergence era and deep investments in the convergence age.
