What are some of past jobs you have held?
Reporter at Fox4 Dallas TX, Anchor KETK Tyler TX, Morning Anchor Baton Rouge LA, Broadcast Journalism Professor Mississippi Valley State University, Morning Anchor ABC6 Greenville MS, Production Assistant USA Today Live, Assistant Producer Dateline/NBC News Productions

Most important skills used today?
Writing. Incredibly important to be able to write well. Reporting and anchoring the news is always about telling the story clearly to your viewers.

Advice for current students:
Internships! Internships! Internships! Get your foot in the door and never leave. Make connections, reach out, ask people about their jobs and how they got there. Never be afraid to ask for help or advice. I’ve had so many mentors and professors who have gone out of their way to write a letter of recommendation or help me get a job. In this business it really is about connections. Never burn bridges– the news business is so small and your reputation is essential. You never want to be known as the lazy intern–that reputation will follow you everywhere because you know reporters LOVE to talk.
